Chase Motorcycle Training (“CMT”)

1. General Terms
1.1. All training is delivered in accordance with DVSA guidelines.
1.2. Student-to-instructor ratios may vary at CMT’s discretion based on safety, course type, and student ability.
1.3. Participation in motorcycle training involves inherent risk of injury or death. By booking a course, the student accepts these risks.
2. Eligibility and Documentation
2.1. Students must bring a valid driving licence with motorcycle entitlement to the course and keep it on their person throughout training.
2.2. CMT cannot accept digital licence codes—physical licences are required.
2.3. If a student arrives without their licence or relevant entitlement, training cannot proceed and no refund will be issued.
2.4. Students must be able to read a number plate at 20 metres, with corrective lenses if required.
3. Language and Communication Requirements
3.1. All courses are delivered in English. Students must demonstrate clear ability to understand instructions and communicate safely in English.
3.2. Translators, third-party communication aids, or interpretation services are not permitted.
3.3. If a student is unable to communicate to a safe standard, training will be terminated with no refund. Instructor decisions are final.
4. Medical, Physical & Fitness to Ride Requirements
4.1. Students must disclose any medical, physical, mental, or other conditions that could affect safety.
4.2. CMT reserves full right to cancel training if there is suspicion of intoxication, impairment, excessive fatigue, or unsafe behaviour.
4.3. No refund will be issued if training is terminated for safety reasons.
5. Behaviour & Conduct
5.1. Students must follow instructor directions at all times.
5.2. Abusive, aggressive, threatening or dangerous behaviour—verbal or physical—will result in immediate termination without refund.
5.3. Instructor decisions on safety and conduct are final.
6. Clothing & Protective Equipment
6.1. Students must wear appropriate protective clothing including:

UK-legal helmet (ECE 22.05 or ECE 22.06)

Suitable riding jacket, gloves, boots, and trousers (armoured recommended)
6.2. Training may be refused if attire is deemed unsafe. No refund will be issued if the student fails to comply.
7. Use of Own Motorcycle
Where a student provides their own motorcycle, it must:

Be insured, taxed, and legally roadworthy

Have visible L-plates front and rear (7×7″, not cut down or obscured)

Have minimum 1 mm tread across ¾ of each tyre, no cracks, cuts, leaks or damage

Have both mirrors, lights & indicators working, effective brakes

Not have excessively loud or aftermarket exhausts

Have sufficient fuel for the full day
7.1. A valid MOT does not guarantee roadworthiness.
7.2. If the motorcycle fails inspection, training will not proceed and no refund will be given.
7.3. Students are responsible for penalties, fines, or legal consequences incurred when using their own motorcycle.
8. Use of CMT Motorcycles
8.1. CMT will supply a roadworthy motorcycle for courses where hire is included.
8.2. CMT may move a student to an automatic motorcycle if required for safety—this is at the instructor’s discretion.
8.3. Students are responsible for fines or penalties incurred whilst riding CMT motorcycles.
8.4. Students are liable for damage caused to CMT motorcycles, up to:

£400 for CBT training

£500 for Direct Access (DAS)
9. CBT Completion & Certification
9.1. A CBT certificate (DL196) is issued only when the student demonstrates safe, independent riding.
9.2. Failure to reach the required standard means retraining at additional cost.
9.3. CBT certificates expire after 2 years.
10. Refunds, Cancellations & Rebooking — CBT

11. Refunds, Cancellations & Rebooking — DAS

21+ working days notice required to cancel — deposit forfeited

21+ working days to amend — £50 fee

Under 21 working days — 100% fee, no amendments permitted
12. Attendance & Punctuality
12.1. Training starts at scheduled times. Late arrivals cannot join once the safety brief has begun.
12.2. No refunds are issued for lateness or missed sessions.
13. Illness or Inability to Continue
13.1. If a student becomes unwell or unable to continue during training, no refunds are issued.
13.2. Additional training will be chargeable.
14. CMT Cancellations
14.1. Courses may be postponed due to mechanical failure, instructor illness, unsafe weather, or force majeure.
14.2. Courses will be rescheduled to the earliest suitable date but refunds will not be issued in these circumstances.
14.3. If the DVSA cancels a test, students must pay for rescheduling and may claim costs directly from DVSA.
15. Liability & Indemnity
15.1. CMT accepts no liability for loss, damage or expenses arising from student actions, third parties, or failure to follow instruction.
15.2. Nothing excludes liability for death or injury caused by CMT negligence.
15.3. Students agree to indemnify CMT for losses caused by their breach of these terms.
16. Agreement to Terms
By booking or attending training, the student agrees to all terms listed above.
